Ingredients
- Bread flour 160 g
- Salt 0.5 tsp
- Ground turmeric 1 tsp
- Ground cumin 1 tsp
- Butter 40 g
- Lard 40 g
- Water 2 tbsp
- Chicken egg 1 pcs
- Cumin seeds to taste
For the filling
- Chicken thigh 2 pcs
- Onion 1 pcs
- Carrot 1 pcs
- Frozen peas 2 tbsp
- Baby potatoes 3 pcs
- Curry paste 3 tsp
- Lime juice 1 tsp
- Salt 0.5 tsp
For frying
- Vegetable oil 2 tbsp
Directions
Step 1

Sift the flour. Wash and peel the carrots and potatoes. Remove the onion skin. Prepare a blender, a baking sheet, and parchment paper.
Step 2

Mix the flour with the spices: salt, ground cumin, and turmeric. Pour into the blender bowl.
Step 3

Add the butter and lard to the flour mixture. Blend into crumbs.
Step 4

Add water in portions of 1 tsp and mix until a smooth dough forms. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate while you prepare the filling.
Step 5

Finely chop the chicken and onion. Coarsely grate the carrot. Combine the prepared ingredients and mix.
TipYou can also chop the vegetables and meat for the filling in a blender. In this case, make sure the ingredients don't turn into a purée, otherwise the filling will become a lump.
Step 6

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Add the chicken and vegetable mixture to it.
Step 7

Finely chop the potatoes and add to the chicken along with the curry paste, salt, and pepper. Stirring, sauté over medium heat for 8–10 minutes.
Step 8

Remove the filling from the heat. Add the peas and lime juice. Mix thoroughly and let cool.
Step 9

Divide the dough into 6 pieces and roll each into a thin round circle. Place 2 tbsp of filling in the center of each dough circle.
TipTo make the pies even and beautiful, you can roll out the dough into one large sheet and cut out circles using a plate about 14 cm in diameter.
Step 10

Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch them tightly. The pies should resemble large dumplings in shape. Place the pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 11

Brush the pies with egg using a pastry brush. Make a few piercings with a fork or a thin knife in the dough to allow steam to escape during baking. Sprinkle with cumin seeds and bake in a preheated oven at 190 °C for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Step 12

Serve the pies for an afternoon snack with a cup of tea.
