Shrimp in honey-nut sauce

Ingredients

  • Cooked frozen king prawns "Lyudi Lyubyat", 500 g 500 g
  • Vegetable oil 2 cup

For the batter

  • Water 60 ml
  • Bread flour 3 tbsp
  • Baking powder 2 tsp
  • Ground black pepper 0.5 tsp
  • Dried garlic 0.5 tsp
  • Salt 0.5 tsp

For the sauce

  • Honey 2.5 tbsp
  • Mayonnaise 3 tbsp
  • Condensed milk 2 tbsp
  • Lemon juice 2 tsp
  • Soy sauce 2 tsp

For the nuts

  • Walnuts 200 g
  • Butter 20 g
  • Honey 2.5 tbsp
  • Water 3 tbsp

For serving

  • Sesame seeds optional
  • Green onion optional

Directions

    Thaw the shrimp and place them on a paper towel to dry. Prepare a saucepan and a baking dish.

    TipIf your shrimp are in shells, peel them.

    Place the butter in a small saucepan and set over medium heat. When the butter melts, add 70 g of honey and 3 tbsp of cold water, stir.

    Add the nuts to the butter-honey mixture. When the mixture boils, reduce the heat to low and cook, stirring, for about 8 minutes until the glaze thickens.

    Line a baking sheet with parchment. Spread the nuts on it and quickly separate them. Let cool for 15 minutes.

    For the sauce, combine mayonnaise, condensed milk, remaining honey, as well as soy sauce and lemon juice. Mix until smooth.

    In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Add the remaining water and mix well. Dip the shrimp in the batter on all sides. Shake off excess batter.

    Heat vegetable oil in a clean pot. It should cover the bottom by 5 cm. Fry the shrimp in small batches in the boiling oil for 4 minutes each. Transfer the cooked shrimp to a plate lined with paper towels.

    TipRemember to occasionally change the paper towels so they absorb the fat better.

    Drizzle the sauce over the cooked shrimp and candied nuts on one plate.
